The City Council voted 5-2 to ban camping on medians in a recent meeting. The new ordinance will go into effect on July 1st, with specific criteria for where the ban applies. This decision was made to address safety concerns and common sense prevailed in the vote.
Well, well, well, we had ourselves a packed house at City Council last night, and guess what? The Council voted to ban camping on medians. I'm surprised. It feels like Christmas morning for me. The City Council voted 5-2 last night. I didn't go to the meeting. As I told my buddy Danny, I'm kind of allergic. They voted 5-2 in approval of the new ordinance that says you can't hang out in the middle of busy streets. It's unbelievable it came to this point. It's common sense, right? I'm going to write a new book, Tom Bradley's Book of Common Sense. Anyway, they did approve it. It'll go into effect on July 1st. Just so you know, it was 5-2. The Council members who voted for the new ordinance, Jackie Sample, Nick Foster, Don Waterman, Betsy Peters, and Mayor Barbara Buffalo, all voted in favor. And those against, Valerie Carroll and Vera Elwood. Starting July 1st, you can't hang out on the medians in a busy intersection. And that's a place with either speed limits are 35 miles per hour or more. And or there are an average of about 15,000 vehicles a day in that intersection. And or that the median is less than 6 feet wide. So there you go. There you go. Thank you. Common sense wins. Common sense.
